The Harvest Management Division monitors the lowest 44-miles of the Klamath River with up to 15 boating technicians supervised by Fisheries Biologists. Within the Yurok Reservation, the river is divided into three contiguous areas: estuary, middle, and upper. The estuary area is the Pacific Ocean to the Highway 101 bridge (rkm 6), middle area from 101 bridge to Surpur Creek (rkm 44), and the upper area from Surpur Creek to the confluence of the Trinity River (rkm 70).
