ACTION ITEMS

ACTION:  Presenters are to address comments from their abstracts in the lessons learned summary by Friday Nov 6 2015 at 5:00 PM.

Agenda Topics

The group revised the lessons learned summary. The final product was decidedly not what was desired from every participant, however the general consensus was to accept the document as revised once presenters have made any final grammatical edits to their respective abstracts.

Todd Buxton solicits inputs from the group on how to proceed with developing revised performance metrics for fine sediment. The group discussed many ways in which fine sediments affect river morphology. The group did not come up with relevant criteria for fine sediment regarding physical process in the mainstem channel.  The group decided the riparian work group should be solicited regarding relevant criteria for fine sediment process in the flood plains. The group decided that the Fish Work Group should consider fine material both inside of and outside of the low flow channel, of particular interest is the over bank floodplain areas.

Andreas provides an update on the status of the effectiveness monitoring and the geomorphic component of the DSS.

The group discussed updating performance measures for fine and coarse sediment. The group was unclear as to the purpose of these documents. More information regarding the intent of these documents was requested before the group proceeds with updating/approving the performance measures. The group decided that future agenda items will not be discussed when the party requesting the agenda item is not present.

The workgroup prioritized FY2017 work plans. The prioritization of work plans is as follows.
1.    Gravel augmentation implementation monitoring.
2.    Sediment transport monitoring
3.    Delta surveys
4.    Active bars and DSS†
5.    Physical Channel rehabilitation monitoring†
6.    Particle tracking.‡
†These work plan proposals were incomplete at the time of this meeting. They are expected to go through review by the workgroup once they are complete.
‡This work plan was already funded with previous years funding source and is not needed for prioritization by the IDT, but is retained in this prioritization since work will be conducted during FY2017.

This work plan prioritization was reached but consensus was not reached. The work group will be required to meet for a conference call to finalize the list, after new work plan proposal briefs are submitted.

During the work plan prioritization process the group decided that analysis should be conducted to investigate reducing the level of effort given to each of the proposals. There is confusion in the group over how/where funding is shifted from planned work to other work items in low water years. The group discussed a need to add several work proposals to the work proposal list. Some members of the group thought this would be advantageous so when things change or funding becomes available they already have a work list.
