The report treats the past and present production of mineral industry in the area and establishes a basis for discussing the outlook for future water and power needs for mining. The parts of the report pertaining to geology were prepared by W. P. Irwin and D. B. Tatlock of the Geological Survey; Frank Wiebelt, G. B. Shea, and R. B. Maurer of the Bureau of Mines compiled the mineral industry data and prepared the estimates of water and power needs.
