The Trinity River Task Force is undertaking a comprehensive program to restorefish and wildlife resources in the Trinity River to historic levels. This program, scheduledto be implemented by 1994, includes improvements in the anadromous fishery hatchery atLewiston, evaluation of possible changes in the operating regime for Lewiston Dam, andconsideration of measures to control erosion which discharges sediment into Grass ValleyCreek, a tributary of the Trinity. The Natural Heritage Institute ("NHI") has been engagedto report to the Task Force on the optimal mix of initiatives for arresting the substantialdischarge of sediment from Grass Valley Creek into the Trinity.
