Buer, K. Y.; Senter, E. (1982) South Fork Trinity River Salmonid Habitat Enhancement Studies. Report to the California Department of Fish and Game by the Department of Water Resources. Available: https://www.trrp.net/library/document?id=1596.

The original purpose of this report was to provide the California Department of Fish and Game with technical assistance in developing a Watershed and Geology section for the Draft South Fork Trinity River Waterway Management Plan. However, new management directives required changing the proposed plan to include other watershed parameters and to allow this report to stand by itself. The 56-mile stretch of the South Fork Trinity River between Salyer and Forest Glen is protected by the California Wild and Scenic Rivers Act. This reachhasextraordinary recreational, scenic, fishery and wildlife resources. State Legislature has deterxined that it will be preserved in an essentially free-flowing,natural condition. Recent human activities combined with natural events, however, have damaged the river and caused adverse impacts to its scenery and fisheries. This report describes the watershed characteristics and conditions. These include geology, landslides, instability and erosion hazard, soils, hydrology, timber harvests and roads, rainfall, and stream geomorphology. This information is required to locate watershed problem areas and to provide the Department of Fish and Game with data necessary for a fishery rehabilitation and enhancement program.
