Establishment of secondary control involved a level-loop from the nearest primary control. Additional control labeled ‘tertiary’ may have several methods, often established simply with RTK GPS using 90 or more epochs. Some tertiary control may not have been established under supervision of licensed surveyors (especially if noted as ‘Science’). Such control is for scientific-use only; it is not appropriate for use in civil construction, environmental permitting, nor flood hazard concerns.
Provision of data here are simply to enhance scientific use of XYZ positional data within the TRRP. In order to compare data over time, a static network is employed using the California State Plane Zone 1 coordinate system in conjunction with GEOID09. This ensures that detected changes are not artifacts of plate tectonics or advances in GEOID models.
